Our eyes are the window in seeing the beautiful sights of the world. Without our vision, the world is lifeless, dark and such a foreboding place. • Avoid looking directly at the sun.

• Avoid activities that could cause eye strain.

With eye strain, the nerves in the eye is either dilated or constricted. Activities that usually cause eye strain are reading in dark places, long hours in the computer and reading materials with very small fonts. Always have a well-lighted place for reading and use magnifying glass to decipher small font letters. If you’re lifestyle includes several hours in front of the computer, take least 5 minutes to massage the eye area and strained muscles. This simple exercise will make you feel better and would allow you to stay for longer hours.

• Avoid putting too much pressure on the eyes.

Sleeping in prone position is avoided since it puts more pressure on the eyes that could cause blurring of vision, lightheadedness and headache. Too much pressure could constrict eye nerves thus causing eye pain.

Proper eye care is maintained as long as you know the things to avoid. It is very essential to avoid factors that could cause eye problems and diseases. Annual eye check-up is necessary to check for vision quality and to report any signs and symptoms that might suggest an advance eye disease. Simple eye pain must be managed accordingly so as not to worsen the condition especially if it happens regularly. Always consult a physician if you’re nauseated and always drowsy because of eye pain and spasm.
