Eyewear and Vision Protection

Our eyes and vision are vital to be taken care of. There are so many dangerous diseases, toxins and bacteria that can cause severe injuries for our eyes if we are not careful. That is why protecting our eyes in the proper and prescribed way is necessary. Our vision protection depends on a high amount on the eyewear we are using. The opportunity of choosing from a high variety of glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses is giving you a helping hand, but you have to know which type of eyewear is useful and beneficial for your eye and vision.

People tend to make the mistake, not caring about their vision protection. We are sitting long hours in front of the computer, sunbathing without sunglasses, letting the harmful UV rays into our eyes; and after a period of time we start complaining about our weakened and blurry vision, severe aches and redness in our eyes. But unfortunately some of these complaints are coming too late, when our vision and eyes are damaged and in many cases surgery is needed to cure the thoughtlessness we made.

Mostly at jour workplace you do not know when your eyes will get injured. Accidents can come in every minute so your eyesight needs to be protected. There are so many vision protection types nowadays, which are not only inexpensive, but are also safe and vision saving in the majority of cases.

Maybe one of the most harmful factors injuring our eyes is the Sun’s UV rays. The solar radiation is concentrated by the cornea when reaching the eye surface and when passing through the pupil are being absorbed by the eye lens. This UV radiation can severely harm the eye tissue and increase the danger of the cataracts apparition, which can increasingly hurt our vision. The usage of sunglasses against these harmful UV-A and UV-B rays is necessary. There are various forms and shapes from which you can chose the best for your eyes, but style is not enough. The sunglasses you wear have to have more than 90% efficiency against UV radiation.

There are other methods too for vision protection, one of these being contact lenses. Contact lenses against UV radiation absorb the UV rays, banning high amount of rays from reaching the surface of your eyes. Contact lenses also protect our eyes against radiations coming from around or above the sunglasses’ sides. These UV protection contact lenses after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration standards have to block more than 90% UV-A and UV-B rays, in the minimal case; lenses recommended for general use have to block at least 70% of UV-A rays.
